چکیده

We present a method for enhancing the visual quality of existing digital elevation models textured with orthophotos, using a sparse set of unordered, high resolution photographs. After an initial manual selection of correspondence points, we automatically register the input photographs to the given terrain data set using robust imagebased modeling techniques. To combine the geo-registered images on the terrain surface, we propose a compositing algorithm that ensures smooth transitions between the images while at the same time preserving the fine details. The resulting textures are inserted into the quadtree representation of a terrain rendering engine to allow an efficient realtime visualization. We demonstrate our method on an HRSC terrain data set and a collection of high resolution photos of Turtmann valley in Switzerland.

Dem (digital Elevation Model) Production and Accuracy Modeling of Dems from 1:35.000 Scale Aerial Photographs

Aerial photographs and satellite imagery have been evaluated manually by the operators for a long time for the extraction of the contour line and DEM data. Computer technology and digital image processing technologies have been developed and this development provides to perform these extraction processes automatically or semi-automatically. The aim of making the processes automatic is to increa...

Effect of digital elevation model’s resolution in producing flood hazard maps

Flooding is one of the most devastating natural disasters occurring annually in the Philippines. A call for a solution for this malady is very challenging as well as crucial to be addressed. Mapping flood hazard is an effective tool in determining the extent and depth of floods associated with hazard level in specified areas that need to be prioritized during flood occurrences. Precedent to the...

3D Model Generation for Cities Using Aerial Photographs and Ground Level Laser Scans

In this paper we describe techniques for 3D textured model construction of urban areas using acquisition devices such as intensity cameras, as well as 2D laser scanner. Our experimental set up consists of a truck equipped with one camera and two fast, inexpensive 2D laser scanners, traveling on city streets under normal traffic conditions. The horizontal laser scans are used to determine the ap...

Comparison of digital elevation models of alpine glaciers

Glaciers are indicators of the global climate change. The change in the extent and volume of a glacier can be estimated from digital elevation models (DEMs) produced from remotely sensed spaceborne or airborne data using photogrammetric, interferometric, or laser scanning techniques. For this study, the most promising data sources available were selected and tested. The selected sites were two ...

Effects of Digital Elevation Models (DEM) Spatial Resolution on Hydrological Simulation

Digital Elevation Model is one of the most important data for watershed modeling whit hydrological models that it has a significant impact on hydrological processes simulation. Several studies by the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) as useful Tool have indicated that the simulation results of this model is very sensitive to the quality of topographic data. The aim of this study is evaluati...
